This course applies to individuals who are required to communicate effectively in the workplace across a variety of scenarios, including mining, construction, and industrial settings. It focuses on the use of communication systems and equipment, adhering to site procedures and policies, identifying and addressing communication deficiencies, and maintaining accurate documentation. Participants will develop skills to ensure clear, prompt, and accurate information exchange, enhancing workplace safety and efficiency while meeting industry compliance standards. This unit of competency stands alone and incorporates the content of the following units:

Course Delivery

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course Durations

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 4 Hours

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

  • Industry Experience: It is recommended students are working or have prior experience in the resources, industrial and/or infrastructure industries. 
  • Physical and Psychological Capability: Students must be physically and mentally capable of performing the practical tasks required for this course. 
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Students must provide and wear protective footwear/safety shoes and comfortable, practical clothing during practical sessions and assessments.
  • Language, Literacy, and Numeracy Skills (LLN): Students must be able to:
    • Read and interpret documentation including legislation, regulations, and workplace procedures.
    • Communicate clearly in English, including the correct usage of industry terminology
    • Complete workplace forms and reports.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

Practical tasks:

  • Simulated Scenario – Use Communication Equipment Effectively
  • Simulated Scenario – Respond to an Equipment Fault

Documentation:

  • Complete an equipment fault log based on Simulated Scenario – Respond to an Equipment Fault

Theory assessment -   A written assessment consisting of short-answer and multiple-choice questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
